Elementary Curriculum

The BCIS Primary Program is provided to students from Grades 1-5. Students study subjects governed by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ontario language arts curriculum.

Primary students acquire diverse knowledge through the Ontario academic program, sports, art, and wellbeing program. The primary curriculum also helps students learn and improve knowledge with Makerspace and ICT.

In the Vietnamese program, students study the nationwide curriculum governed by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam combined with topics regarding environmental protection, climate change, saving energy, gender equality, school violence, road safety and the Character Education in Action program.

The English program is designed for students not only to meet the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training but also to develop their  English skills to continue studying in an international environment or studying abroad. Students develop reading, writing, speaking and listening English skills taught by Canadian teachers. Our EAL Support Program is based on Ontario STEP language competency standards. The number of periods for EAL Program for Elementary students (Grades 1-5) is an average of 3 periods/ day, totaling 15 periods/ week.

The primary English program is taught through a series of lessons to encourage learning, playing, experiencing and inquiring and integrates Science, Technology, Social Sciences, Math and Art.
